SANDPOINT — An Oldtown man accused of threatening a woman with a pistol and holding her against her will pleaded not guilty recently.
Chance Ryan Bacon is scheduled to be tried on charges of second-degree kidnapping and aggravated assault in 1st District Court in June, court records indicate.
Bacon, 24, is free on a $60,000 surety bond while the case is pending. He faces up to 25 years in prison on the kidnapping charge and up to five years on the felony assault charge.
Bacon is accused of threatening the woman with a .40-caliber pistol during an argument at their home on Jan. 31, according to a probable cause affidavit. Bacon allegedly unloaded the gun, placed a single round in the chamber and pointed at her while ordering the woman into a bedroom.
Bacon allegedly documented the incident with a cellphone camera. The woman told Bonner County sheriff’s deputies that she feared she would be shot, according to court documents.
Bacon admitted breaking things inside the residence but denied a firearm was involved in the argument, the affidavit said.
Bacon consented to a search of his phone, which led to the discovery of the video of him threatening the woman, court documents indicate.
