COCOLALLA — A Michigan man was injured on Friday morning after colliding with a tractor-trailer on U.S. Highway 95.

Idaho State Police said Jason R. Lenhart, a 22-year-old from Burt, was northbound in a Hyundai Elantra when he drove left of center and crashed into a southbound Freightliner driven by Todd W. Shaffer, a 52-year-old from Rathdrum. A GMC Yukon driven by Sarah C. Wagner, 23, of Coeur d’Alene was also traveling southbound and was struck by debris, ISP said.

Lenhart was flown via Life Flight Network helicopter to Kootenai Health. State police said Shaffer and Wagner escaped injury.

Shaffer and Wagner were wearing seat belts, but it was not immediately clear if Lenhart was wearing his seat belt, according to ISP.

The 10:26 a.m. collision closed the southbound lane for approximately an hour and a half.

State police said the incident remains under investigation.

A report on Lenhart’s condition was unavailable Friday.
