RITZVILLE — Dan Blankenship announced his candidacy for Adams County commissioner position No. 1 on Thursday and will formally file for office on May 11.

The former dryland wheat farmer and business owner has served in leadership roles for local, state and national organizations, said a press release about Blankenship’s announcement.

“We are in challenging times that require efficient communication and transparency from our leaders,” Blankenship said in a press release. “My goal is to serve the residents of Adams County with integrity as an effective, respectful and hardworking leader, who is focused on strengthening and developing our local economy.”

Blankenship graduated from Washington State University with a degree in agronomy and has been a lifelong resident of Adams County, managing and operating a dryland wheat farm there for more than 40 years, the press release stated.
