KENNEWICK — The Mid-Columbia Libraries has extended the due date for all physical materials to June 15, according to the library’s website.

Annie Warren, communications manager for the library, said the library is waiting for Gov. Jay Inslee to lift the “stay home, stay healthy” order before reopening branches. The extension for the due date of physical books was made anticipating an extension of the stay-home order.

While library branches may not be open, digital books and materials can be checked out online.

“At this time we encourage our customers to access our digital collection, which has 100,000+ eBooks, eAudiobooks, eMagazines and more,” Warren said. “We also have extended our streaming video service, Kanopy, to 10 credits per person per month (up from five credits previously). We have a variety of other digital resources, such as Ancestry: Library Edition, which can be accessed for free with a library card.”
