FVCC trustee incumbents re-elected

Incumbent trustees Peter J. Akey of Whitefish and Kelly Stimpson of Bigfork were re-elected by a sweeping margin to the Flathead Valley Community College’s Board of Trustees for three-year terms. Akey garnered the most votes with 3,428, while Stimpson was a close second with 3,298 votes. Challenger Eric Fulton, a tech entrepreneur from Whitefish, had 1,501 votes. Akey and Stimpson represent the Bigfork, Columbia Falls and Whitefish school districts.
Akey is a senior vice president at Glacier Bank and a major in the Montana Army National Guard, who has served as a trustee since 2017. Stimpson is an attorney for Kalispell Regional Healthcare and has been on the board since 2016.

Climate Smart Glacier Country announced its Climate Smart Champions during a ceremony at the Earth Day celebration April 21 in Whitefish. Awards were presented to businesses, youth and an individual who are leaders in building local solutions to climate change challenges.
