Man accused of kidnapping, forcible rape

SANDPOINT — A Bonner County man is accused of binding and raping a woman at his home in February.
Jonathan Richard Beckley is charged with two counts of forcible rape, first-degree kidnapping and forcible penetration with a foreign object.
Beckley made an initial appearance in Bonner County Magistrate Court via video link with the Bonner County Jail on Monday. Information on Beckley’s bail and legal representation was not immediately available, however.
A warrant for Beckley, 44, was issued after the woman told sheriff’s deputies she was brutally raped but did not report the crime to authorities because she feared Beckley, according to a probable cause affidavit. She disclosed the rape when she reported the theft of a motorcycle and an all-terrain vehicle by Beckley, the affidavit said.
The 46-year-old woman told investigators she went to Beckley’s home near Samuels to visit his 12-year-old son. She said Beckley summoned her to his detached shop and saw that her massage table was set up.
Beckley, the affidavit alleges, bound the woman’s left arm with duct tape to the table and bound her right hand with a grocery bag. The woman told investigators that Beckley taped her neck, stomach and ankles to the table before sexually assaulting her, the affidavit said.
The woman believes she may have been drugged during the ordeal and came to the following day or the day after that, according to court document. The bag binding her right hand came undone and she was able to free herself from the other restraints.
The woman told investigators she went to Beckley’s residence to try and find her car keys, but ended up hiding in a closet when Beckley returned home. Beckley’s son found the keys and claimed not to know of the woman’s whereabouts. The woman made her escape when Beckley left, the affidavit said.
The woman turned over cellphones containing photos of her injuries and the message table, which still had pieces of duct tape attached to it, according to court documents.
A preliminary hearing in the case is set for May 20.
All four offenses Beckley is accused of come with the potential for lifelong prison terms, according to Idaho Code
