SANDPOINT — A Priest River woman accused of helping her boyfriend evade authorities in a lewd conduct case pleaded guilty to harboring a fugitive on Monday.

Sheenagh Elizabeth Adams’ plea clears the way for her to be sentenced in 1st District Court on Monday. The hearing coincides with her sentencing in a felony child endangerment case.

Adams, 36, remains jailed while awaiting sentencing.

Adams is accused of facilitating William Scott Wegner’s flight by providing him funds drawn from his bank account. Wegner was due to stand trial on rape and lewd conduct charges last October, but failed to appear at his bench trial.

Adams, according to court documents, denied knowing of Wegner’s whereabouts, but later confessed to speaking to him daily and making arrangements to provide him with money while he was lamming it. The confession and a search of her vehicle in March led to the apprehension of Wegner in Apache County, Ariz., according to court documents.

A Bonner County grand jury indicted Wegner on two counts of lewd conduct and one count of rape last year. Wegner is accused of molesting a 5-year-old girl in March 2018. He’s also accused of molesting and raping another girl who was between the ages of 12-14 from 2017 to 2019, according to the indictment.

Adams was indicted on charges of aiding and abetting Wegner’s misconduct and allowing one of the alleged victims to be placed in harm’s way. In exchange for pleading guilty to felony injury to a child, the aiding and abetting charge was dismissed.

In exchange for Adams’ plea to the harboring charge, a charge of compounding a crime by hindering prosecution will be dismissed at sentencing, court records indicate.
