A Ritzville homicide suspect has been detained by the Oregon State Patrol after a chase and shootout in the Troutdale area near Portland, according to the Adams County Sheriff’s Department.
Authorities link Grayson Morris, 25, to involvement in a homicide in the 100 block of Seventh Avenue in Ritzville, though the Adams County Sheriff’s Department did not disclose any further details and did not respond to requests to interview.
Morris reportedly was stopped around milepost 18 of Interstate 84 near Troutdale after Oregon state troopers used spike traps and a pit maneuver to force Morris’ vehicle to a halt. Morris then allegedly carjacked a different vehicle.
A shootout reportedly broke out between Morris and state troopers before Morris was shot and police were able to take him into custody. The extent of his injuries was not known, according to the Adams County Sheriff’s Department.
