Virtual event raises more than $23,000

It was a wine-win for Children’s Village after community members joined in for a successful virtual fundraiser that raised $23,475 for the nonprofit Thursday night.

The Vine & The Village Vintage Wine Auction was conducted using Facebook Live. Director of charitable giving for Children’s Village Vanessa Moos joined Naomi Boutz of Vine & Olive Eatery and Wine Bar and Justin Schorzman of the Coeur Group to auction off wine lots to support Children’s Village, which serves kiddos in crisis.

“We cannot express to you our gratitude through words,” Moos said. “The children in this town need you and they see you stepping up big for them. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for joining the fun to learn more about our mission!”

Cruising around a tall pine with a small measuring tape, Ava Stone examined the numbers and wrote them down on a paper secured to her clipboard. "It's the diameter, and then you take a clinometer from the 66 foot back and then the 100 foot back, then you look up and get the height to find out the board foot volume," she said Thursday morning.
