Don Carter’s presence at the city will be missed by all

With Don Carter’s retirement the city has lost a built in history of Sandpoint. His many years of city service has come to a well-deserved end.

Don, you are to be congratulated for never becoming a self-important bureaucrat, you always kept perspective in serving the people. I worked with lots of building inspectors in a number of states, you were far and away the best. When yelled at by hostile public you simply stated, “I don’t make the rules, I try to enforce them, you need to direct your complaints to the mayor and city council.” Perfect answer to make change if it was needed.

The common man humility was ingrained in your person, an admirable quality indeed. Happy Harley riding and retirement. You will be missed.
