MOSES LAKE — A deceased man recovered from the waters of Moses Lake near the sand dunes Monday has been identified by the Grant County Coroner as 61-year-old Myong T. Kim, of Shoreline.

Kim and a companion had been camping in the area of the Moses Lake Sand Dunes for the Memorial Day weekend, according to Grant County Sheriff’s Office. Kim entered the water late Sunday evening and did not resurface. The sheriff’s office and Grant County Fire District 5 began search-and-rescue operations, but after hours of searching, operations were suspended overnight. They resumed Monday morning.

Columbia Basin Dive Rescue recovered Kim’s body early Monday afternoon. Kim was not wearing a lifejacket, according to the sheriff’s office.

“Deputies believe this was nothing more than a terrible accident,” the sheriff’s office stated in a press release. “No foul play is suspected.”
