A Polson woman died in a traffic crash Saturday night on Montana 35 in Lake County.
According to Lake County Sheriff Don Bell, 24-year-old Ruby D. Saluskin died at the scene of the wreck, which occurred at about 7 p.m.
According to Montana Highway Patrol officials, a 1999 Chevy Silverado driven by a 26-year-old man from Deer Lodge was headed south when it crossed the centerline while trying to negotiate a right curve in the road. When the driver tried to correct, the vehicle ran off the left side of the road and hit a stop sign and an embankment before crossing Fulkerson Lane, hitting some mailboxes and coming to rest on its roof.
Neither of the people in the truck were wearing seat belts.
Officials said the road was dry while alcohol and speed were suspected factors in the crash.
The man, who wasn’t identified, was transported from the scene by helicopter for treatment of his injuries.
