Hospice is about living life to its fullest. Granted, some people have misconceptions about hospice care. For instance, one may think Hospice is only about dying and that Hospice is the decision you make about your care when there’s nothing more to be done.

Instead, Hospice brings choice, hope, and honor.

Hospice helps people with a life-limiting illness focus on living as fully as possible for as long as possible. Once you or your loved one have decided that curative treatment is no longer an option or maybe is no longer your desired focus of care, Hospice is here to support what is most important to you in every aspect of care.

Bon-ner General Health Com-munity Hospice is the community’s only non-profit hospice provider, serving the families of Bonner and Boundary county for decades.

Community Hospice brings our care and our team right to you, whether in your home, in an assisted living facility, or a skilled nursing facility, wherever you call home. Our medical director, nurse practitioner, a team of registered nurses, social workers, certified nurse’s aides, therapists, spiritual care, and volunteers are here to partner with you.

Erin Bass, a nurse practitioner at Kaniksu Health Services, has joined the Community Hospice team part-time. Bass was born and raised in Sandpoint and earned her NP degree from Gonzaga University, always planning to return to her roots in Sandpoint.

In her 17 years of nursing, she has worked with all ages, spending several years as a pediatric ICU nurse, where her love for palliative care began. She has always been drawn to hospice and palliative care, finding great fulfillment in having personalized time spent with those facing end-of-life journeys. Erin feels that comprehensively supporting those with a life- limiting illness and working closely with individuals and families as she does in Hospice, allows the patient and their family to experience the most meaningful, highest quality of life leading to a peaceful journey. Erin brings a breadth of experience and a passion for end of life care and is here to serve our community’s Hospice needs.

We want to assure our patients, their families, and the general public, Hospice, and our Grief & Bereavement Services, are here and ready to serve your needs.
