May 28, 1970 — MEMORIAL DAY RITES

Sandpoint’s traditional Memorial Day services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at War Memorial Field.

Participating will be the Women’s Relief Corps of the G.A.R., World War I Barracks, WWI Auxiliary, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion and their auxiliaries.

The Rev. Charles D. Wigton of the First Christian Church will offer the invocation. The flag will be raised by the V.F.W. Junior Girls Unit under Mrs. Arlene Smith. S-Sgt. Mearl Brown, USAR will serve as master of ceremonies.

Sen. James Stoicheff will deliver the address. Sam Ruyle will be bugler for the event. Firing squad members are Robert Johnson, Lawrence Barker, Loren Tribe, John Tillberg and Earl Smith.

EVENSON HOME ON LEAVE

SA Loren J. Evenson is spending a leave in the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Millard Evenson, Sandpoint. He is enroute from New York to San Francisco from where he will leave June 6 for DaNang, Vietnam.

JACK TRONE OPENS PRINT SHOP

Jack Trone, Sagle, has opened a print shop at his home on Lignite road. Trone, who named his business Hillside Press because his new home is built against the hillside above Fry creek, has installed both offset and letterpress equipment.

Thirty-six boys and girls, the largest senior class ever graduated from the local high school, last night closed their four years of high school life in Sandpoint. The ceremonies took place at the Liberty theater before unusually large audiences.

R.F. CURTIS WILL HEAD NEW CHAMBER

As the first phase of the reorganization of the Chamber of Commerce, a board of directors was elected and officers named. President is R.F. Curtis, vice president Earl Farmin and treasurer A.W. Bowen. Board members are Bowen, Guy Helphrey, Earl Farmin, R.F. Curtis, Floyd Wendle, E.H. Aaron, M.L. Bruce, W.W. Von Canon, Paul Bower, Orville Frazier, Jack Gardner, G.H. Martin, R.S. McCrea and T.L. Gibson.

SEWING CLASS EXHIBIT

The sewing class of the high school’s domestic science department last Friday held an exhibit of articles of dress made under the instruction of Miss Helga Anderson. The well-attended showing included a great variety of articles and demonstrated a real worth in the department.

BUSINESS BLOCK SOLD

W.A. Nieman, who some time ago disposed of his ice cream and confectionery business on First avenue, this week sold the property to A.F. Miller of Bottle Bay, the consideration being $10,500.
