PONDERAY — A California man was arrested on drug charges after causing a series of profanity-laced disturbances at restaurants and stores in Ponderay and Sandpoint on Tuesday.
Ponderay Police were summoned to McDonald’s shortly after 8:30 a.m. after Andrew W. Jacobs was reportedly screaming at people in the parking lot and in the restaurant’s lobby, according to a probable cause affidavit.
Jacob’s vehicle was searched due to the odor of marijuana. An unspecified amount of pot and a pipe were seized, but Jacobs was released without being cited after veering into gibberish while speaking with the officer.
Ponderay Police were summoned to Subway at 10:30 a.m. after Jacobs was seen screaming and yelling at customers. Sandpoint Police were called to Super 1 Foods at 12:35 p.m. in response to another disturbance caused by Jacobs.
Jacobs, 51, was warned that he would be arrested on the drug charges if he continued causing problems. Jacobs, the affidavit said, told officers he was leaving for Washington, but turned up at Paul’s Chevron, where he was yelling at children and customers.
Jacobs was arrested on the drug charges. He made an initial appearance in Bonner County Magistrate Court on Wednesday via videoconferencing with the jail. He pleaded guilty to the misdemeanor charges and is awaiting sentencing, court records show.
