Six players off three-time State A champion Whitefish have been selected to the Class A boys’ soccer All-State team, which was released this week.

The Whitefish girls put five on the All-State team as well, along with four Columbia Falls Wildkats.

On the boys’ side Bulldogs’ seniors Ian Grover, Brandon Mendzona, Marvin Kimera, and Niath Edland were joined by junior teammates Gabe Menicke and Chase Sabin on the squad. A total of nine Northern A players were selected All-State; Jason Albin of state runner-up Columbia Falls, Bigfork’s Ben Pilskalns and Polson’s Austin Luper joined the Bulldogs, who defeated Columbia Falls 3-0 for the State A title on Oct. 31.

Columbia Falls’ Walton Nichols also made the Northern A’s first team, as did Ivan Cano of Libby.

For the girls, Whitefish had juniors Emma Barron, Anna Akey, Sophie Olson and Josie Schneider selected All-State along with freshman Isabelle Cooke. The Bulldogs fell 3-2 in overtime to Laurel in the State A championship.

Columbia Falls is represented by junior state scoring leader Maddie Robinson, freshman Hope McAtee, sophomore Sydney Mann and Junior Cheyanne Johnston-Heinz.

In addition the Bulldogs’ Sam Galbraith and the Wildkats’ LaKia Hill were first-team all-Northern A.
