MOSES LAKE — Parts of Stratford Road in Moses Lake will be closed for repaving for the next couple of days.

The closure begins today at 6:30 a.m. and will affect the segment of Stratford from the north side of Valley Road to the north side of the intersection with Mart Road by Walmart, according to the city of Moses Lake.

On Tuesday the road will be closed between Knolls Vista Drive and the south side of the Mart Road intersection. The intersection at Valley Road will remain open during that time for traffic to the parking lots at the east side of the intersection. Motorists are urged to use alternate routes during the construction period.

The closures are part of a repair project that began in July and is expected to run until late November, according to previous Columbia Basin Herald reports. The total cost of the project is $1.7 million and C&R Tractor & Landscaping of Kelso is the contractor.

“The city appreciates everyone’s patience and understanding as the contractor works on this project,” said Lynne Lynch, public information officer for the city. “The improvements have been noticed and appreciated by the public. A resident recently contacted Municipal Services to thank engineers for a smoother road.”
