The Columbia Basin Development League awarded Congressman Dan Newhouse, R-Wash., with a lifetime membership at its 56th annual meeting.
Upon accepting the award Thursday, Newhouse said he was committed to completing the Columbia Basin Project and it was “a great honor,” according to a release from the league.
Also honored was Jake Wollman Jr., of Warden, who was a longtime board member. He received the trustee emeritus title, as he is retiring. He joined in the early 1990s and has been treasurer and bookkeeper.
Newhouse is a third-generation farmer from Sunnyside, as well as former head of the state’s agriculture department and former state legislator.
