COEUR d’ALENE — A man is in jail after police said he attacked his mother.

Chad M. Giaciolli, 25, is charged with aggravated battery, a felony.

Police responded last week to a Coeur d’Alene motel, where they had reportedly been advised someone needed help.

A woman who identified herself as Giaciolli’s mother told police her son had attacked her.

She said the pair, who had been staying at the motel for about two weeks, were watching TV together and drinking when Giaciolli began to yell at her.

The woman said Giaciolli grabbed her by the neck and slammed her face against the wall. Her nose looked swollen and discolored, according to court documents, and she reportedly showed police blood-soaked tissues.

She also reportedly had an abrasion on her right shin, which she said she got while Giaciolli was “throwing her around like a rag doll,” according to court documents.

Giaciolli was present when police arrived. He said the pair had been watching TV together and did not acknowledge his mother’s injuries, police said.

A person in the neighboring unit said he heard “banging around” before police arrived.

Police arrested Giaciolli at the scene.

Judge James Stow ordered that Giaciolli be held on $25,000 bail and issued a no contact order between Giaciolli and his mother.
