The victim of a diving accident in Glacier National Park last week was identified as 18-year-old Linnea Rose Mills of Missoula.

Mills was diving with a party when something went wrong in the water near the Lake McDonald Lodge. Efforts to revive her were unsuccessful.

A park press release said the matter was still under investigation.

It took at least a half hour to get help — a private party had to drive to Apgar to call 911 as there was no cell service at the lodge.

Mills had been a certified scuba diver since age 15, according to her obituary in the Missoulian and had done many dives since then, including diving the Great Barrier Reef in Australia at age 16.

A second diver, a 22-year-old male, suffered shortness of breath and was transported by Three Rivers Ambulance to Kalispell Regional Medical Center. He was later flown to Seattle, Washington for hyperbaric treatment.

Mills is survived by her parents Scott and Lisa Mills, her brother Nick, and her grandparents Elizabeth Klimek and John and Joanna Mills and many other family members.
