Soccer players honored with post season awards

Several Bigfork soccer players were honored last week as the All-Conference and All-State selections for the 2020 season were announced.

Three Vikings made the list as senior Ben Pilskalns, junior Caden Riedesel and sophomore Landon Byerman were All-Conference selections.

Midfielder Pilskalns was also an All-State selection after finishing fourth in the state in points with 34 after scoring 16 goals and assisting on two others. He was also sixth in the state in points-per-match this season. A defender, Byerman scored two goals and had three assists this season while keeper Riedesel was in the goal for all three Vikings wins this season.

Pilskalns was first team All Conference while Byerman and Riedesel were second team selections.

The Valkyries had four players named to the All-Conference team, including junior Brette Guenzler, sophomore Scout Nadeau and freshmen Danika Bucklin and Calista Worble.

Guenzler was the second leading scorer among midfielders in the conference with 15 points this season, Worble was seventh overall in the conference with 19 points, Bucklin had two goals and Nadeau was picked as a defender, but also picked up a win in her only start as keeper against Libby.

Guenzler and Bucklin were second team selections while Worble and Nadeau were honorable mention.
