KELLOGG — Jenna Chase scored 11 points for Post Falls JV in a 52-30 win over the Wallace Miners in the championship game of the Silver Valley Tournament at Andrews Gymnasium on Saturday.

Post Falls JV (4-0) beat Kellogg 55-37 on Friday to advance to the title game.

“We played very aggressive defense and the girls made some good passes in the first half,” Post Falls JV coach Gregory Owens said. “The girls are getting to know each other still, but played really well. Our defense really allowed us to push the ball how we wanted to.”

Jaden House scored 11 points for Wallace (2-1), which travels to Bonners Ferry on Tuesday.

"I was proud of the effort my girls gave," Wallace coach Nichole Farkas said. "They never gave up. There were some good takeaways for us. After a 17-4 deficit after the first quarter, I was happy we could contain them a bit and not let the game get too out of hand. Post Falls JV is quick and are great shooters. I was proud of my senior leadership of Brianna Bergen and Chloe Cielke for keeping the team mentally focused."

Kaliah Frazey scored 10 points for Post Falls JV, which hosts Coeur d’Alene on Dec. 1.

Turkey Shootout in wild fashion

KALISPELL, Mont. — Wylie Pilgrim hit the game-winning free throw for the Royals against Gallatin Valley Christian of Bozeman, Mont., in a 21-19 elam ending, capturing the 2020 Stillwater Christian Turkey Shootout championship.

“We didn’t have a clue about the format until we got there,” said North Idaho Christian coach Shawn Thompson, whose team had to play four games to get to the championship game on Saturday. “I think they wanted to avoid the 50 minute game, but it didn’t quite happen like that. But I thought it was a really cool format and kind of took away the free throw game.”

North Idaho Christian beat Gallatin Valley 53-51 in the first championship game on a jumper by Malachi Bullington to force the 25-minute elam ending game.

In the semifinals, Talon Williams scored on a layup as time expired to give the Royals a 53-51 win over Green Falls Christian School.

North Idaho Christian also defeated Flathead Valley Home School Association 51-50 after Morgan O’Brien hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer and tournament host Stillwater Christian 55-39 on Saturday.

North Idaho Christian (5-1) will face Spokane Classical Christian on Dec. 3 at North Idaho Christian. North Idaho Christian will be the visiting team due to Classical Christian not being able to host games due to athletics being shut down in Washington state due to the coronavirus pandemic.
