RATHDRUM — Sandpoint girls soccer rocked Lakeland 14-0 in an Inland Empire League match Thursday to end a two-game losing streak.
Head coach Conor Baranski was proud of his team for staying mentally engaged the entire match.
"I think we did really well," he said. "We tried to play really efficiently. We tried to play two touch and we tried to score off of one-touch goals and nearly every one of our goals is that. I've been a player in these situations and it's really easy to get sloppy and lose your edge, and I was really impressed with our players."
Juniors Piper Frank and Kylie Williams each had two goals and three assists to lead the Bulldogs. Erin Eddy had two goals and an assist, Adeline Henney netted a pair of scores, and Kimberly Yarnell and Kelsey Cessna each tallied a goal and two assists.
Kate McGregor, Aliya Strock, Hannah Harvey and Henney all recorded their first career varsity goals in the match.
"All credit to Lakeland," Baranski said. "They fight for all 80 minutes and they are super positive with each other and constantly building each other up."
Sandpoint outshot the Hawks 20-2 and Hattie Larson made a pair of saves in net.
Baranski said his team controlled possession throughout the match and he wants to carry the momentum from this victory into their next game.
"I hope they feel good about some of those goals because they were well worked," he said. "I hope it has us feeling better going into Lake City."
