One Priest River Lamanna High School student has tested positive for COVID-19.

A letter sent to staff from superintendent Paul Anselmo Thursday afternoon stated that those who were identified via contact tracing as having close contact with the student (defined as within six feet for 15 or more minutes) had been contacted.

“Our greatest priority is the safety of our students, staff, and community members,” Anselmo wrote. “It is important to remember that children are greatly influenced by the reactions of adults when facing difficult circumstances. I encourage everyone to remain calm and to be empathic and respectful to those affected.”

Anyone who may have been exposed to COVID-19 is asked to contact their health care provider. Some of the symptoms of COVID-19 include fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, loss of taste or smell and a sore throat. Symptoms usually appear within two to 14 days.
