KAMLOOPS CAUGHT ON A FLY
Fred Schedler probably established a local fly fishing record last week, when he hooked and landed a 16 lb., 15 oz. Kamloops in the section of the Clark Fork open only to fly fishermen. In the battle to land the big fish, Schedler had to use all his skill as a fly fisherman. When the Kamloops finally tired and was brought near the boat, there was no way to land it as the only net was much too small. One of Schedler’s fishing companions rowed the boat to shore, where Schedler was able to land the fish on the gravel beach. Likely the largest Kamloops rainbow ever taken on a fly in Pend Oreille since the fish were introduced in 1942, it was also Schedler’s first large Kamloops.
