Request your absentee ballot and be sure to vote

Absentee ballots are starting to arrive at voters’ doors, and if anyone is tired of the status quo in Bonner County, they can vote for change. These positions should be non-partisan – as they are about providing government services. Sadly, some of our current elected officials are caught up in ideology – not public service.

If you don’t want a rogue “constitutionalist” sheriff who encourages citizens to defy the Governor’s pandemic measures (as did our Sheriff Wheeler) and emboldens far-right extremists (like the Ammon Bundy gang that terrorized the Statehouse and harassed our library), vote for Cindy Marx. Cindy is a Westside Fire District commissioner and executive director of the Community Cancer Services. She will run the department as an administrator, not a politician, and will work to make sure law enforcement, the jail, search and rescue, and other programs have the resources they need to do their jobs well.

And if you don’t want the county wasting your tax dollars on frivolous lawsuits against the city or other parties (like the wasted $150,000 the commissioners just spent suing Sandpoint over the Festival at Sandpoint), vote for Steve Johnson. Steve was raised on a farm in Bonner County, is a retired educator and administrator. His top priorities are to stop wasting taxpayer money and return common sense to local government.
