COEUR d'ALENE — Sandpoint volleyball knocked off Coeur d'Alene in four sets Saturday, 25-18, 25-18, 20-25, 25-23.

The victory for the Bulldogs was their third in five matches after starting the season 0-6.

"This was a big win for us," head coach Karen Alsager said.

Gabby Hicks had a huge day recording 23 kills, 10 digs, four blocks and two aces.

"Gabby is just stroking the ball so well," Alsager said about Hicks.

Alsager said she changed up the rotation in the match to allow Kaylee Banks to serve Hicks and it really worked.

Banks had 27 assists and CeCe Deprez added 14. Bella Phillips tallied eight kills and six blocks, Kinzie Ward led the team with 15 digs and Sam Koster recorded three aces. Sophomore Hailey Roeder saw some extended playing time and had five kills.

Sandpoint had 15 blocks as a team. Coeur d’Alene was missing both its outside hitters.

Alsager said she has really seen her team mature in the last few weeks, but she believes they haven't peaked yet.

"I still don't think it's our best, but it was our best match this year," she said. "We could still do a little bit more."

The JV II team coached by Piper Wahlin also downed the Vikings.

Sandpoint (3-8, 1-1 IEL) travels to 4A Inland Empire League-leading Lakeland at 7 p.m. Thursday. The Hawks have already clinched at least a share of the regular season district crown.
