Robert Bernard (Bob) Deubel passed away on September 22, 2020 in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
He was born December 17,1934, in Sandpoint, Idaho, to Barney and Rose Deubel. He lived his early years at Trestle Creek before moving to Sandpoint. He attended Lincoln and Farman elementary schools and graduated from Sandpoint High School. Bob also attended Kinmen Business College in Spokane, graduating with a degree in bookkeeping. He worked at St. John Hardware in St. John, Washington, Bargain Supply in Sandpoint and Merwin Hardware.
He is a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served 6 years. Bob loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting trips with his father, brother, brother-in-law and friends and fishing on Lake Pend d'Oreille.
He was one of the founding members of the Monday Hikers and for the last 29 years has hiked many trails in North Idaho, western Montana and eastern Washington. He was also a volunteer at the Bonner County History Museum for eight years, and a member of the Kinnikinnick Native Plant Society.
He was an amateur radio operator and enjoyed writing calligraphy and traveling to do photography.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard (Barney) Deubel and Rose Hale Deubel; sons Gregory Deubel and Richard E. Deubel; his brother-in-law, Lewie Mace; and brother-in-law, Rex Hoffman.
He is survived by his wife, Kathryn Deubel; daughter Susan (Paul) Greenwood; sisters Jean Deubel Mace and Linda Rose Hoffman; brother Don Deubel; stepchildren Terri (Mike) Yarbrough, Donald (Marlene) Colby, Brenda (Tom) Sawyer, Fred (Michelle) Colby, and Alvin Brown; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews and cousins.
A celebration of life is planned for June 12, 2021.
