MOSES LAKE — There were 24 cases of the coronavirus reported in Grant County Wednesday, including cases in Moses Lake, Ephrata, and the Coulee City, Mattawa, Quincy and Wilson Creek areas, according to Grant County Health District.

This brings the total number of cases in Grant County since the pandemic began to 3,216. State officials reported Tuesday that 157 residents have been hospitalized since the pandemic began, while 13 are currently hospitalized, according to the health district.

In addition, 2,544 are considered recovered. The health district considers a patient to have recovered after 28 days from the time that their positive coronavirus test came back positive, and a person considered recovered may still be symptomatic or experience long-term health effects.

The rate of new cases in Grant County dropped to just over 283 per 100,000 people in the last 14 days, the first time since July that the rate has dropped below 300. The county’s rate remains the third-highest in the state, after Whitman and Adams counties.

In Adams County, there were five new cases reported Wednesday, bringing the total cases since the pandemic began to 890, according to the Adams County Health Department. Of those, 836 have been residents of Othello. State officials reported Tuesday that 52 local residents have been hospitalized since the pandemic began, while two are currently hospitalized, according to the health department.

The rate of new cases in Adams County is currently at almost 417 per 100,000 people in the last 14 days, the second-highest rate in the state.
