PONDERAY — A fundraiser featuring live music, a dinner and silent auction is being held Saturday at the Bonner County Fairgrounds for Ponderay Police Officer Mike Victorino, who was injured in a motorcycle crash.

The event runs from 3-9 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults and children six and older. Children five an under are admitted free of charge.

The fee covers dinner from Sweet Lou's and soft drinks. There will also be a no-host bar for adult beverages.

Proceeds from the event will help the mounting medical costs Victorino incurred after crashing his motorcycle near Lewiston on Aug. 15. Idaho State Police said Victorino was eastbound on U.S. Highway 12 when he lost control and was ejected from his motorcycle.

Victorino is currently in in-patient rehabilitation while he recovers from a traumatic brain injury, according to his sister, Lori, and his girlfriend, Tracy Earley.

"He's doing well all in all," said Lori Victorino.

Mike Victorino is undergoing physical therapy, but remains on a lengthy path to recovery.

"Now's the hard work," said Earley.

Earley and Lori Victorino, meanwhile, are grateful for the outpouring of support the public has shown Mike Victorino.

"It's been amazing. Everybody's been reaching out," said Earley, who is going through a two-inch stack of greeting cards which are read to the injured officer and U.S. Air Force veteran.

Videos of support are being uploaded to Marco Polo, an application which allows people to communicate with those they care about.

Lori Victorino and Earley are also grateful for the support of the Bonner County Sheriff'S Office chaplains, who have been using their Facebook page to post regular updates on Mike Victorino's condition, which has eased the burden of answering inquiries about his condition.

"I don't know how we could have done this without their support," said Earley.

A benefit account has been established under Mike Victorino's name at Columbia Bank. Donations and messages can also be sent to Mike Victorino at Post Office Box No. 82, Ponderay, ID. 83852.
