Injuries sideline Troy Trojans indefinitely

The Troy Trojans fell 0-75 to Thompson Falls during an Oct. 9 home game.
Head coach Luke Haggerty’s squad started strong, moving the ball into the Blue Hawks’ red zone in their first several drives. As the game progressed, however, Haggerty said his squad was hampered by a series of injuries.
Before halftime, quarterback Trevor Grant and running backs Dylan Peterson and Ben Starks were sidelined.
In the second half, Haggerty said backup quarterback Paxton Fisher left the field after suffering a leg injury. Junior AJ Starks, who had never played quarterback, was put in as Paxton Fisher’s replacement.
“I told him to just run the ball,” Haggerty said.
Near the end of the game, left tackle Jace Fisher was sidelined after breaking three of his fingers.
While the Trojans were set to play the St. Ignatius Bulldogs on Oct. 16, Haggerty said his squad will have to forfeit. Due to the series of injuries they sustained, the Trojans would only be able to field seven players.
“We hate to forfeit a game,” Haggerty said. “It really stinks for the kids because they have been working so hard.”
The squad will continue practicing with hopes of playing their final game against Clark Fork on Oct. 23.
