MOSES LAKE — A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for Friday and into Friday night, the Spokane office of the National Weather Service warned Central Washington residents Wednesday.

Current forecasts predict that most of Grant County will avoid the brunt of the snowstorm, with the northwest corner of the county likely to experience moderate to heavy snowfall that may impact travel.

Travelers headed over the mountains this weekend should exercise caution, as both major passes over the Cascades have already seen some substantial snowfall.

Temperatures are forecast to drop well below freezing this weekend. The high on Sunday is expected to be 38 and the low a brisk 17.

The Washington State Department of Transportation recommends that drivers traveling through winter weather conditions carry a stocked first-aid kit, cellphone charger, water, food, flashlight, cold-weather clothing, jumper cables, tire chains and flares, as well as maintaining a full tank of gas whenever possible.
