PRIEST RIVER — Friday's football game at PRLHS was played in a winter wonderland.

Snow covered the field, but the conditions didn't stop Timberlake from scoring seven touchdowns to hand the Spartans a 46-0 season-ending loss.

Head coach Jared Hughes said the winter storm made the experience fun for the kids, but it was hard to stomach giving up 32 points in the second quarter.

"Our kids continue to play hard, but we made too many mistakes to give ourselves a chance," he wrote in an email.

For the first time this season, Priest River dropped back to pass more than they ran it. The Spartans attempted 21 passes for 54 yards and ran the ball 18 times for just 25 yards.

In his final game as a Spartan, senior Coby Rogers rushed for 15 yards and had seven tackles and a sack on defense.

Junior Jordan Nortz had three receptions for 17 yards and tallied nine total tackles. Junior Kameron Salesky racked up a team-high 10 tackles and recorded a sack. Sophomore Deegan Goins added eight tackles, an interception and a fumble recovery.

The Spartans finish the year with an 0-7 record, but the future looks bright for the team. Only six players will graduate and Priest River will have plenty of young talent coming back.

"I'm looking forward to getting to work with the kids and coaches in the offseason to take the next steps to improve the program," Hughes wrote.
