MOSES LAKE — A Moses Lake man is facing charges of driving under the influence and bribery after allegedly trying to hand money to a state trooper while on his way to jail, according to law enforcement officials.
Robert Lewis Garmon, 54, was booked into jail just after midnight on Monday. According to police records, he was in the area of West 4th Avenue and Ash Street when he was pulled over on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.
After reportedly refusing a breath test, officers secured a warrant to draw his blood to test if he was under the influence, according to law enforcement. After reportedly failing that test, Garmon reportedly tried to bribe the state trooper who was transporting him when they got to the jail. It was not immediately clear how much Garmon allegedly attempted to pass the trooper, who recommended adding bribery charges against Garmon for the incident.
