POST FALLS — Three people are in jail and facing felony charges after they were pulled over in a car that had stolen plates.
Post Falls Police responded around 8 p.m. on Oct. 26 to a report of a white Dodge Caravan bearing stolen Washington plates. Police stopped the vehicle on Seventh Avenue.
The driver, identified as 31-year-old Montana resident Raymond M. Adams, allegedly told police he and Scott F. Newton, 37, had borrowed the van from Adams’ girlfriend. The van reportedly belonged to the girlfriend’s mother, who lives in Arizona.
Adams and Newton reportedly traveled in the van to Northern Quest Casino in Airway Heights, where they met 19-year-old Washington resident Glorianne M. Mitchell and agreed to give her a ride.
All three were in the van when police pulled it over.
A search of the van allegedly yielded a backpack that contained a prescription bottle made out to Newton, a glass pipe, a scale and a pistol that police determined had been stolen out of Butte, Mont.
Police also allegedly found a set of Montana plates that had been reported stolen, as well as a purse belonging to Mitchell that contained a glass pipe and tinfoil with a substance on it that Mitchell told police was probably meth, according to court documents.
While searching Adams’ pockets, police reportedly found 7.2 grams of heroin.
Adams, Newton and Mitchell were arrested at the scene.
Adams is charged with possession of a controlled substance and with trafficking heroin, both felonies. A judge ordered that he be held on $50,000 bail.
Newton is charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and grand theft by possession of stolen property, both felonies. He is being held on $100,000 bail.
Mitchell is charged with possession of a controlled substance, a felony. A judge ordered that she be held on $10,000 bail.
