After a month of fundraising, the annual Coat 4 Kids drive has received over $3,500 in donations for Bonner County.

Litehouse and Winteridge Natural Foods each donated $1,000, wrote Karen Battenschlag, the Sandpoint area coordinator.

The organization also received 130 new coat donations from Walmart, she wrote. Distribution of coat has begun at the Bonner Community Food Bank in Sandpoint, 1707 Culvers Drive. Recipients do not have to qualify for the food bank to get a coat.

Coat distributions will happen on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to noon. Masks are required and will be provided for those who do not have them. Shoppers are limited to three at a time and must practice social distancing. Anyone who is sick is asked to send someone else to get the coat, or call Battenschlag at (208) 610-4299 to make arrangements.

There will also be a distribution at the Priest River Community Food Bank, located at 45 south McKinley St. 107 Priest River, starting next Tuesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The distribution will continue until Nov. 13, or until the coats run out, Battenschlag wrote.

Any school officials aware of children who still need a coat are encouraged to contact Battenschlag with the gender and size so they can be delivered.
