Cats drop Stillwater in soccer

The Columbia Falls boys soccer team beat nonconference Stillwater Christian, 3-2 Monday night.
The Cats took a 2-0 lead on goals from Johnny Carl off a penalty kick and from Neils Getts.
But Stillwater came back to tie it in the second half until Finn Sunberg knocked in a shot to make it 3-2.
“We were extremely impressed with Stillwater, it was a really competitive game. We needed that push, and they gave us everything we could handle, I mean geez, we blew a 2-0 lead, they tied it 2-2, and they had a penalty kick that they missed that could have put them up,” coach O’Brien Byrd
said. “But our guys kept fighting, a lot of teams their age would have just tanked after the comeback, but they kept fighting and got that game winner and then kept the lead the rest of the game. They’re young but they’re showing a lot of signs of maturity … We’re still making some mistakes but I can honestly say they’re not the same ones we made on Friday, so we’re growing and we’re building.”
