After battling a series of injuries, the Trojans fell 70-16 to Arlee in their Aug. 28 season opener.

Luke Haggerty, Troy head coach, said his eight-man team ran the ball well, but fell victim to cramps in the second half. The cramps began affecting the team despite the Trojans' efforts to hydrate throughout the game.

“I haven’t seen anything like it before,” Haggerty said.

The team also lost senior left tackle Jace Fisher to a shoulder injury in the beginning of the second half. Fisher, who has committed to play at Montana State, is one of the Trojan’s key players. Haggerty said Sept. 1 that the team hoped to learn soon whether Fisher could continue playing.

Haggerty attributed the high number of injuries to the team’s lack of depth. Many potential Troy players lost their eligibility after failing classes last spring when schools switched to remote schedules.

While Haggerty expected 25 players to come out for the team, but had only 13 show up for the first day of practice.

The Trojans are scheduled to hit the road to play Plains on Sept. 4
