Fire officials with the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes, Division of Fire on Monday issued a public reminder that debris burning on the Flathead Reservation is closed for fire season.

Debris-burning season will open Oct. 1, and a permit will not be required from Oct. 1 to Nov. 30.

While there are no restrictions at this time, the agency urges caution with campfires and recommends checking restrictions before recreating in the outdoors.

Questions regarding burning restrictions should be directed to C.T. Camel, fire management specialist at 676-2550.
