It’s a favorite annual event brings out the best from everyone’s garages and dusty corners of the attic.

The Bonner County Historical Society’s annual yard sale is a fundraiser to benefit the Bonner County History Museum’s programs and operations.

"Objects for sale are donated by community members; objects from the museum’s collection are never a part of the sale," museum administrator Hannah Combs said. "Remember, 'it’s not from the museum, it’s for the museum!'”

Museum officials are hoping the community will select the finest of their gently used items and donate them to sale by dropping them off at the museum when it is open. No clothes will be accepted.

The museum is accepting items Tuesday-Friday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., now through Sept. 11. Check in at the front desk, and staff or volunteers will be able to help you unload your car. Please call ahead to make special arrangements for large objects like furniture.

Then visit us on the lawn in Lakeview Park starting at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 12th, and let the shopping begin. No "early bird" purchases will be allowed. A wide variety of items will be available: office supplies, furniture, a huge selection of books, athletic equipment, vintage hats, and on and on. Many objects are one-of-a-kind treasures. The sale ends at 3 p.m., but of course we recommend arriving in the morning.

Precautions are being taken in light of the ongoing pandemic. If you are wary of visiting in person but would still like to support the museum, you can always make a donation at bonnercountyhistory.org.

Founded in 1972, the Bonner County History Museum has been collecting and preserving the Bonner County region’s significant stories for over 40 years. The museum is located in view of Lake Pend Oreille in beautiful Lakeview Park at 611 S. Ella Ave.
