OTHELLO — An Elgin, Oregon, man has died from injuries suffered when his car was hit while he was crossing the intersection of Booker Road and state Route 26, about seven miles southeast of Othello, on Sept. 2.

Brandon Howes, 20, died Sept. 6 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane, according to a press memo from the Washington State Patrol.

Howes was injured when he failed to stop at the stop sign on Booker Road and started through the intersection, the WSP memo said. His vehicle was hit by a vehicle driven by Joseph Sunde, 63, Seattle. Sunde was driving east on SR-26.

Sunde’s vehicle struck Howes' on the driver’s side. Both vehicles came to rest on the shoulder of SR-26.

Both men were transported to Othello Community Hospital, and Howes was airlifted to Sacred Heart.
