MOSES LAKE — There were 15 cases of the coronavirus confirmed in Grant County on Wednesday, including eight cases in the Quincy area, five cases in Moses Lake, and one case each in Warden and Ephrata, according to Grant County Health District.

Eighteen Grant County residents with the coronavirus are currently hospitalized, according to the health district.

The rate of infection continues to slowly fall, with 442 new cases per 100,000 people in the last 14 days, compared to a mid-August high of nearly 600, the health district reported. However, Dr. Alexander Brzezny, the county health officer, expressed concern at a Wednesday meeting of the board of health that cases could rise again in coming days as a result of Labor Day weekend activities, similar to a surge seen shortly after Memorial Day weekend.

There have been 755 cases in Moses Lake since the pandemic began, 725 in the Quincy area and 417 in the Mattawa area, the three areas in the county with the most cases.
