Sheriff's Office's K9 Chicka retires after four years

GRANT COUNTY — After four years of service with Grant County Sheriff’s Office, K9 Chicka is headed for retirement, the sheriff’s office announced Wednesday.

Chicka has assisted several law enforcement agencies in and around Grant County and made 35 captures, 10 apprehensions, and approximately 90 deployments throughout her career, according to the sheriff’s office.

“K9 Chicka’s personality and bark (she LOVES to bark) will definitely be missed by everyone that has had the pleasure of working with her!” the sheriff’s office statement reads. “Enjoy your retirement K9 Chicka! You and your impact will forever be felt around Grant County and the citizens you’ve encountered.”

K9 Chicka will spend her retirement with her first handler, Sergeant Ric Char, and his family.
