A Spokane woman is facing felony charges after allegedly stealing items worth more than $1,500 from a Harrison home.

Kristin D. Thompson, 36, is facing charges of burglary, grand theft and possession of a controlled substance.

Police responded to a report of a possible burglary at a Harrison residence on Sunday. The homeowner believed an unknown person had entered her home and taken several items while she was away. Items missing from the home included thumb drives, a hard drive containing family photos, an iPhone and iWatch, a wallet and a suitcase.

The homeowner said she found a piece of chewed gum stuck to a counter and discovered that a peach cobbler had been eaten. The suspect left a used spoon in the sink.

A neighbor reportedly told police he had seen an unknown woman standing in the driveway at the residence earlier that day.

After seeing a post about the possible burglary on the NextDoor app, a woman contacted police. She indicated that she had picked Thompson up at the Harrison residence when Thompson called and asked for a ride, according to court records. Police later determined that Thompson had called from the home’s landline.

Thompson left a suitcase with the person who had given her a ride. The homeowner was able to identify the contents of the suitcase, according to court records.

Police reportedly detained Thompson while she was walking south on the right shoulder of Highway 97. In addition to three thumb drives, police said Thompson had on her person a box containing methamphetamine, as well as a glass pipe.

A judge ordered Monday that Thompson be held on $10,000 bail.
