WARDNER – The Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office is asking for information regarding an incident in Wardner over the weekend.

SCSO Undersheriff Holly Lindsey reports that the crime occurred on Sunday around 2:30 p.m. near the area of the Sierra Nevada Road.

Residents who spoke with law enforcement have told the News-Press that a female in her 20s was allegedly the victim in an attempted kidnapping.

Multiple deputies could be seen in the Wardner area that day for much of the afternoon and into the night.

Few details on the attempt have been released by SCSO, but Undersheriff Lindsey states that they are looking for a person of interest, described as a white male between the age of 40 and 50 years, approximately 6-foot-1, medium build, red hair and light blue eyes.

The male was reported wearing dirty clothes, dirty work boots and smelled bad. He was also reportedly driving a matte-grey truck, which was missing one or both license plates.

This person would have been in the area of the Sierra Nevada Road in Wardner on Sunday around 2:30 p.m.

If you have any information that may help identify this person or witnessed the incident, Lindsey asks that you call the Sheriff’s Office at 208-556-1114 and ask for Deputy Ben Abshire.
