FAIRMONT HOT SPRINGS — Flathead’s Ezra Epperly shot a second-round 76 to pin down boys’ medalist honors Friday while Glacier put five golfers in the top 10 and took the team title at the Western AA Divisional.

Epperly’s two-day total of 149 put him two strokes ahead of Missoula Sentinel’s Kade McDonough, who shot a 77 Friday. Epperly’s second-round score was surpassed only by the 73 fired by Glacier’s Sam Manaker.

Manaker and teammate Cassidy tied for fourth with a total of 157; Tyler Avery tied for sixth at 158 and the Pack’s Coby Kunda was eighth (159) and Will Salonen (161) 10th. Salonen shot a 77 Friday. Glacier finished 20 strokes ahead of Sentinel, with a 626 total.

On the girls’ side, Butte’s Kodie Hoagland shot 82 Friday to hold off teammate Ella Prigge by two strokes and Flathead’s Marcella Mercer by three. Mercer shot 83, which wasn’t enough to offset her first-day 86. Teammate Jillian Wynne was fourth at 183.

Glacier’s Alana Griffin was sixth at 185.

Butte won the girls’ team title with a two-day total of 718; Helena Capital was a distant second at 782, followed by Flathead and Glacier. None of the Missoula schools fielded full girls’ teams, nor did Helena High.
