One dead in Moyie Springs house fire

MOYIE SPRINGS — The Boundary County Sheriff's Office has confirmed that a woman died in a house fire Tuesday night, Sept. 22, in the 6900 block of Perkins Lake Road in Moyie Springs.

Susan Dabbs, 54, was found dead inside of the residence once first responders were able to enter the home.

Around 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 22, the Boundary County Sheriff's Office received a call from a man, now confirmed as 55-year-old Shannon Dabbs, who said there had been a shooting and his wife was trapped inside of a house that was on fire. Law enforcement arrived on the scene soon thereafter, and found the lone residential building on the property was on fire.

Investigators from the Boundary County Sheriff's Office, Idaho State Police and the Idaho State Fire Marshal's Office spent several days at the scene of the fire conducting their investigation and collecting numerous pieces of of evidence.

The cause of Dabbs' death has yet to be determined and at this time, no charges have been filed.

The investigation remains ongoing and more information will be published as it becomes available.
