The Farmin Stidwell Elementary School will have its second annual Wolfpack Fun Run fundraiser Thursday morning.

Money raised from the fundraiser will go toward outdoor learning spaces and technology upgrades said Stephanie Reimann, president of the Partners In Education parent/teacher group.

All students will participate, she said, regardless of whether they have personally gotten pledges. Students also have “pledge-o-meters” in each class, with varying rewards for pledges celebrated by the class as a whole.

For the past two weeks, she said, classrooms have been following a story in class with different themes including teamwork, care, courage, grit and celebration in preparation.

The fun run has been organized slightly differently than last year, Reimann said, to make sure students stay with their class cohort and minimize risks for disease transmission.

“Last year [we had] two tracks run twice,” she said. “This year [it is] 11 tracks three times.”

The goal for the fundraiser is $20,000, Reimann said. Last year, the event raised about $24,000. That money was used for two ball pits, as well as sponsoring multiple school events, she said.

The event has also inspired others, she said, and Washington Elementary School will hold a similar fun run at the end of October.

The first groups will start at 8:30 a.m. Thursday at the Farmin Stidwell Elementary School, and continue until around 10:30. Pledges can still be made today through the boosterthon website.
