LEVY: Count its blessings

Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 3 years, 9 months AGO

I have lived in Post Falls for more than 30 years and I was bewildered and shocked when the supplemental levy for Post Falls School District failed! The district has for decades done such a good job of being financially responsible with the taxpayers’ money.

This levy is necessary to supplement the funds allotted by the state, especially since the state has cut district budgets by 6% since March 2020. These funds are needed to finance school nurses — who are needed more than ever after this last traumatic year.

These funds support KTEC, a wonderful educational resource available to students in our area. Events of the recent past have illustrated how much technology contributes to the education of our students, and that is funded by this supplemental levy.

Sports? Enrichment activities? Those are possible because of this levy. As residents, we need to ensure that our area students have access to a robust, varied, quality education in Post Falls.

I encourage you to vote “YES” for our schools on May 18!
