Volunteer firefighters from Superior and St. Regis tackled a blaze Saturday afternoon at a Stageline Drive residence in Superior. The very aggressive structure fire began in the garage of the two-story home. After two hours and six loads of tender supplied water crews were able to stop the spread of fire. The home experienced significant damage due to high winds during the fire and multiple explosions from welding gas bottles. The owner had constructed the home long ago with good fire separation walls which helped slow fire extension. Numerous vehicles and collector cars were lost in the fire, but Steve Temple, Superior Volunteer Fire Department Chief, noted all residents were accounted for with the exception of one cat. "Thanks to St . Regis once again for their assistance!” Temple said. (Photo courtesy Kat Kittridge, St. Regis VFD assistant chief)
